Our domain contact details were invalid and our domain expired as we didn't receive the notifications. If this happens, you're toast. They cannot be contacted by phone - only by web form (first come first served), there is no online process for recovering the account if you are the legitimate owner but do not know the contact details. In small companies with a steady turnover of staff this is not particularly unusual (but not ok).

So while their support team 'get round to it' your business is suffering, emails bouncing, website down. Their 'grace' period is 7 days max and then you're turned off. You cannot escalate it as you cannot speak to anyone. We'll be transferring away ASAP.

Our other registration company (Network Solutions) could not have been more helpful. One phone call and they turned us back on so within 2 hours it was back to normal with 14 days from then to process the renewal.
